The Junior League of The Woodlands, Inc. (JLTW) Sustaining Scholarship recognizes a graduating senior who exemplifies an outstanding volunteer spirit by contributing significantly in the areas of community service and leadership during her high school years. A minimum of one $1,000 scholarship will be provided in the spring of 2021.
JLTW is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. We welcome all women who value this mission. We are committed to inclusive environments of diverse individuals, organizations and communities.

II. Academic Information
III. Two Letters of Recommendation
Two letters of recommendation are required with this application. One letter must be from an academic advisor, counselor, or a teacher. The other letter must be from a non-family member. The letters should focus on the student’s volunteer efforts and may also include academic and other achievements. Though not a requirement, JLTW Members may provide a maximum of 1 reference letter; the other must be from a non-Member. Recommendations must be uploaded/mailed with the application or emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org by the April 15, 2021 deadline. Late letters will not be accepted.
IV. Community Volunteer Activities
Include all activities in the community - places of worship, service organizations, and other agencies.
V. Employment and Paid Community Activities
Include all employment paid community activities - places of worship, service organizations, and other agencies.
VI. High School Extracurricular Activities
Include all school-related activities outside of normal class load - class offices, clubs, athletics, music, etc.
VII. Essay Questions
These essay questions are a key part of each application and will be read carefully by the Selection Committee. All applications are confidentially held by JLTW and the Selection Committee. Responses must be typed on a separate sheet of paper (include applicant’s name at the top) and submitted with the completed application. Only typewritten responses will be considered.
By signing this application, I acknowledge that if awarded this scholarship that the scholarship proceeds will be used towards educational or room & board expenses at the college or university that I will be attending.
I give Junior League of The Woodlands permission to use my biographical information, essay and/or photograph in promotional materials and media releases.

The award recipient of JLTW’s Sustaining Scholarship Fund will be notified by May 15, 2021 via phone and email. Recipient and her parent(s) are encouraged to attend an official presentation at JLTW’s May Annual Dinner on May 25, 2021 (details provided to the recipient at the time of notification).
